Screening

Complimentary Consumer Reporting Screening™

Understand What Is Being Reported About You.

If you recently received correspondence from Data Mitigation Services, you may be wondering why we contacted you and whether information appearing within your consumer reports deserves a closer look.

Data Mitigation Services helps consumers better understand information being reported about them and identify reporting characteristics that may warrant further review.

Your Complimentary Consumer Reporting Screening™ is the first step.

What Is the Complimentary Screening?

The Complimentary Consumer Reporting Screening™ is an initial review of information appearing within your consumer reports.

Our purpose is to identify whether there are reporting characteristics that may deserve closer examination.

During the screening process, we may look for issues such as:

  • Information that appears incomplete or inconsistent
  • Accounts reported differently across consumer reporting agencies
  • Debt buyer or collection information that may require closer review
  • Information that may not match the underlying account history
  • Reporting that remained unchanged after a prior dispute
  • Other characteristics commonly reviewed by consumer rights professionals

The screening is designed to help determine whether a more comprehensive review may be appropriate.

There is no charge for the initial screening.

Why Did I Receive a Letter?

Data Mitigation Services conducts outreach using publicly available information involving certain consumer debt-related events.

If you received a letter from us, public information may indicate that you experienced an event involving a creditor, debt buyer, collection agency, or consumer debt matter.

However, an important distinction exists:

What happened in court and what is being reported about you are not necessarily the same thing.

Consumer reporting agencies maintain separate records containing information provided by creditors, debt buyers, collection companies, and other information furnishers.

Our screening helps you take a closer look at what those reporting systems may be saying about you.

What Happens After the Screening?

There are no assumptions made simply because you request a screening.

The purpose of the Complimentary Consumer Reporting Screening™ is to determine whether there are indicators that deserve a closer look.

If no significant reporting characteristics are identified, we will tell you.

If characteristics are identified that may warrant additional review, DMS may explain additional services available to help you better understand and organize your consumer reporting information.

Some of the characteristics identified during a screening may also be the types of issues that consumer rights attorneys routinely evaluate when reviewing potential consumer reporting concerns.
